55. Papaver nudicaule, Iceland Poppy, ©2012
A boreal sub-polar plant of Europe, Asia, Central Asia, and North America, the Iceland Poppy is a spring flower in shades of peach, yellow, or white. The stems are curved, hairy, and dramatic. The whole plant is toxic to most people. It took several years to paint as I had rashes from the hairy leaves and stems. Of course, the seed pod is illegal to transport across borders. The original is for sale for $3,000. Contact the artist if interested in purchasing the original.
