This plant when growing in a series makes the appearance of multiple legs like a spider. Therefore, the name Spiderwort. This Spring wildflower in the woodlands of Virginia’s mountains is a rich blue/purple above bright green “legs”. It is a perennial beauty. The original painting is in gouache on English linen record paper. It is in the permanent collection of St. Catherine’s School, Richmond, VA.
